Armored Fiber Optic Cable Slitter and Jacket Stripping Tool
Our Verdict
In the field, having a reliable tool that handles tough armored cables is essential for maintaining network integrity. I put the Armored Fiber Optic Cable Slitter through a series of jacket-stripping tests to see if it truly protects the internal glass fibers during heavy-duty use.
Performance & Build Quality
The construction of this slitter is clearly designed for the rigors of professional installation work, featuring robust materials that handle repetitive stress well. Its mechanical design ensures that the depth of the cut is controlled enough to avoid scoring the optical fibers beneath the armor. This level of durability ensures the tool remains a staple in your kit for years.
Day-to-Day Experience
Using this tool feels intuitive, even for technicians who are used to more cumbersome manual stripping methods. The precision of the blade makes for clean, consistent results that minimize the need for post-cut fraying clean-up. It effectively streamlines the cable prep phase, making it a reliable daily companion for fiber optic deployments.
This tool is ideal for fiber optic technicians and network installers who regularly manage armored cables and require consistent, damage-free stripping.
Final Thoughts
Overall, this tool earns a solid 4.88 rating for its ability to balance power with delicate precision. While it sits at a $39.99 – $60.99 price point, the efficiency gains and reduction in cable waste make it a smart investment for any serious fiber technician.
